Terezín (*1945)

This Slovak politician, sociologist, prognosticator and businessman of Jewish origin lives in the Czech Republic. He was born in the Terezín concentration camp and his father, whom he never met, died at the end of the war during a death march. Mr Gál graduated from the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and later earned a doctorate from the University of Economics in Prague. During the Velvet Revolution he became a founding member of the Public Against Violence Movement in Slovakia, later becoming the chair of the movement and an advisor to the Federal Government of Czechoslovakia. He is a member of the Jewish community in Děčín.
